I assume the silverline oil kit is so you don't have to strip off the engine cover and drain the oil that way, (my twopence worth) I havenever been a lover of this idea, as yes you can pull the oil up, but what about the sediment that would flow out when the sump plug istaken out ! As far as the filters go, I don't think you need to change the fuel filter every time (when was it last changed?) Oil and air when oil is changed but the pollen every 12 months (I believe not too much) but as I do just take it out and throw away !! and as far ar the forum goes, not had a problem, but don't use it as much as you Radiotwo ps Kwickfit used to do oil and filter change for about Quote
gregers Posted November 1, 2009 Author Report Posted November 1, 2009 hi steve, yep not bad m8ty hope you and yours are all, yes the extractor is to save the time of removing undertray,im hoping the sedement if any will come up the pipe, but i suppose the proof is in the pudding and ill let you know? iirc the fuel filter was replace approx 2 years ago about 16k ago?this was major service and everything got changed where needed. i went to a similar place as kwikfit last year for the oil change,i supplyed the oil and filter and iirc they charged me Quote

seatkid Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) FWIW I've done 60,000 miles/7 years on my current fuel filter (diesel). The recommended interval is 20,000 miles/2years, but I think thats OTT. Edited November 2, 2009 by seatkid Quote

Radiotwo I have personally changed oil on my car in the conventional manner (via sump plug) umpteen times, be it either a diesel or petrol vehicle. The diesel car within a few days goes from a golden syrup to vitually black whilst the petrol car remains a golden colour for a considerable time longer. P.S. Presently, diesel car - Ford Galaxy, petrol car - 1994 Toyota Carina 1.6GLi Quote
